My name is Daniel. I am a Mexican-American.
I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In other words, I am a Mormon.
I was born and raised Catholic but converted to Mormon when I was 17. I had thought about joining since the missionaries first started teaching me the Gospel when I was 14. I was very interested in religion at this age. The first time I had contact with missionaries was when they visited us back in our old house when I was very young — less than ten years old. But it all seemed so boring back then. In my teens I was definitely addicted to religion, though, and researched a lot of religions but fell in love with the Mormon religion.
I stopped going to church in my early 20s. About the time I turned 30, I started being jealous of Mormons. I thought I couldn’t be Mormon for some reason. Like I had sinned too much when I became inactive or something.
But I have recently started going back to church. (Since July of 2014.) They welcomed me with open arms. I feel so blessed to be going back to church again.
I also went back to school starting June of 2013. I finished in April of 2014 and graduated in August of that year. I received a certificate in Medical Billing and Coding. I am currently considering going back to school so I can get the job I really want — something in Health Information Technology. But I have to get a job first so I can start saving up the money to go back to school. I don’t think they will give me another student loan. Besides, I have to pay back the loan I took to get my certificate. I have a long way to go until I’m in a career I’m happy with. Health Information Technology Managers are required to have at least a Bachelor’s degree.
Going back to school and going back to church has made me feel like I am moving forward in my life. I believe that God only wants me to use technology for religious purposes. So this blog is my excuse to use a computer! It’s mostly going to be about religion but I might let myself write things about life in general from time to time.
I currently live at home with my parents and am looking for a job.
UPDATE: I live in Glendale now with two roommates. One is a former smoker who is inspiring the other and I to give up the habit for good!
